The song was originally meant for their scrapped collaborative album, alongside Blue Banisters song " Thunder" and Norman Fucking Rockwell!'s " California". The song features vocals from Miles Kane, frontman of The Last Shadow Puppets. It was later confirmed to appear on Blue Banisters.

On January 10, 2021, Del Rey uploaded the tracklist for the album, of which "Dealer" was not included. The song's fate was unknown after it was not found on Shazam alongside the rest of the Chemtrails Over the Country Club tracklist on December 18, 2020.
